Okay, look. Sex and thinking about it is pleasurable to me, as well as to any other guy. I want to think about it. BUT I DO NOT! Even if I really want to. Why? Because I made a promise to myself not to. Because I have will. And if I can do it, so could anyone else.

We now have an understanding. Now consider this; You really want to go pee, but you're sitting at a dinner table and a guy is making an hour-long toast. You really gotta go, but you know that it would be rude to get up. The guy just keeps talking and talking. Are you going to wait for the guy to finish, or will you excuse yourself from the table? What if you risked bursting your bladder ? That is a crude example, but you get my point. I think that repressing your thoughts and natural impulses is unhealthy. Eventually your willpower will wane, and you will have a violent outburst of anger or hysteria. By the way, did you know that when you try to "hold it in" when you need to take a crap, your anal muscles become progressively weaker? If you constantly hold it in at a young age, you'll be shi tting your pants uncontrollably when you're old. Don't underestimate the strength of your natural impulses, and don't overestimate your willpower over things you subconsciously desire.

That's just silly! Having sex is not something a human needs, unlike going to the bathroom!

You'd be surprised But I never said having sex is what a human needs. I'm just pointing out that constantly repressing natural impulses is very unhealthy in the long run.

to go back to the actual question, you would think that girls would be more willing to abstain, because they undergo more risks if they choose to have sex before they are married (when they are married, its harder for the guy to just leave)
also, i know we're all teenagers and all, but from a philosophical point of view, what about ppl in say their twenties who arent married but have been together for a couple of years maybe the dont want to get married for one reason or another, but does that mean they shouldnt have sex

Good point. What about a person who decides he/she doesn't want to marry at all?

precisely, if ur not religious and u trust who ever u are with, there is no really compelling reason to get married (besides some legal details) and some ppl dont want to combine their money or things like that, they want to still be their own person

By "marriage" I meant "permanent get-together." Not necessarily the act of marrying.

Okay, I totally agree that girls are more likely to abstain due to the risk factors for them when it comes to getting stuck with a child. Still, there's the whole risk factors for getting diseases too. I would choose to abstain until marriage, and have actually already made that promise to myself. For my 16th birthday I recieved my chastity ring! It's purtiful... And I made sure it had nothing to do with god. (sorry to those who are firm believers, I just have trouble making a promise to something I don't believe in)

Is Killer Krillan a woman? He seems to be on your side. Is Jeff a woman? He also rather leans to your side. I also agree with you actually, except that I'm against repressing strong feelings, and I don't like taking extreme stances. I'm not a woman either, if you didn't realize it ;D

I'm not talking about support. I'm talking about the opinion of the matter. Jeff is kindof dotty, I'm not sure where HE falls, and you Dmitri said that sex sometimes "just happens." I think I missed KK...

We're all kinda like different branches of Protestantism. We're all saying essentially the same thing, but some of us are more rabidly radical than others (Alexei).
"No sex before you're eighteen! Willpower! Sex does not just 'happen.' Crusade for abstinence! If you're not with us you're against us, and I don't believe in any of your leftist crap!"
That's basically what you sound like. Well, you know what? If you don't want to have sex, DON'T HAVE SEX. I'll have some, however (just a small piece, please ;D).
