It was a dark and stormy night in Cataronia-T27, aka Laria’s Countryside Taverna. Those in the penthouses of the 26-acre holiday resort may have been getting a superb light show, but the storm outside was nothing compared to the storm raging within. Beta Amelia Ralvoria had come to Cataronia for a relaxing holiday with her only daughter, and yet, here she was, quarrelling (she refused to admit she might be inciting a brawl, even to herself) with some local drunk, who didn’t seem to be all that drunk to gauge from the angry sparkle in its eyes. She, a Beta speaker for the High Council of the Mensha Sector, was using the most base of Basic, to try and convert some holidaying Citizens to her causes. If she slurred her words, and drew upon some rather low blows, even by the standards of the commoners, it was because she was so frustrated with their narrow-minded stubbornness, not because of the numerous goblets of “The Blood of Bacchus” she had had that night of course. The stupid backwater imbeciles did not understand what they had to gain by the removal of the vast forests of Shangarah. The profits to be made from all that acreage as farmland would be immense, especially if they could but import and modify exotic foods to propagate in the climate of those regions reducing the need for imports, and increasing the profits for those farmers, and the possiblity of setting up housing and cities in those areas would be even better for the economy of the Mensha Sector..
Later that night, after she had given up on the tavern, she returned to her room, and found her daughter was still at a party beign held at one of the neighboring resorts.
She turned, there was someone at her balcony, 14 stories above skimmer level, and yet the only way they could be there was by scaling the smooth serpentine walls, unless they had a skimmer illegally hovering around. she reached for a com link, but there was none in the room save for the one near the balcony. The door slid open, Constance had forgotten to lock the door, not like there would have been need before now.

Constance opened the door to the room, hoping her mother would not notice her late arrival…
