I was in a bit of a bind in my Film Analysis class because we were supposed to be submitting ideas for our film project, and I hadn't thought of anything yet.
Then I had an idea. It sounded maybe far-fetched, but I thought it would be really cool if I could pull it off.
It is thus: Make a film based on the Marla comic.
But first I would need consent from the creator (Geneva), and the titled individual (Marla). Next, I would have to ask of those persons included as characters in the comic, play they're roles in the film (to do otherwise would ruin the spirit of the original works).
Does this sound interesting or feasible to anyone? Or does anyone have any additional ideas they would wish to express?

It's a neat idea. But I doubt it would work. Reasons: 1) Many scenes would be extremely hard to film. 2) Chances are that some of the leading roles wouldn't/couldn't act. Plus, not everyone's schedule is flexible. 3) I asked Geneva if I could make a deck of Marla Comic cards once, and she said no. Reason? She said she wanted control over the project, and if ever it was done, she would make it herself. Unless I'm wrong (which I might be), you should probably expect a similar response. Ideas (I'm just pulling these out of my...head): * A universe consisting of darkness and an unknown number of travellers traversing it * A teenager discovers he is the heir to hell and faces an incredibly difficult moral decision * A man somehow zooms out from the world, finds out it is just a watch, and starts messing around with its machinery * Death assumes human form and embarks on a grotesque killing rampage * A group of people is enlightened to time - that is, once in a while, time freezes for them and they meet up to trade "forgotten time" - minutes and hours they find lying around that people lost. The time can be bartered like a drug, with 5.7 hours being the most ever found. All ideas copyright Alexei Baboulevitch 2003, in case any of you thieving bastards ( ) wanna steal 'em. I plan to write stories based on these later on.

Hmm... yeah you're proboably right.
I should just think of my own original idea.

GOod gracious The MArla COmic is popular these days I get requests for video games... movies...
as to Archagons rather ... negative speech... I am not nearly as entirely opposed to the idea as it would seem. It is true however that it would be a hard arrangement of people as well as the difficult scenes issue. I'm not at all sure it is a possible idea.
If somehow it all works out easily and happily you may go forth with my blessing.
Alexei, your reference to the cards is slightly twisted. It was not control for controls sake I desired but I am extremely possesive of Marla Comic Art and could stand to allow anyone but myself to create the images, which are a lot of work, and I was at that time, and still am, awfully busy. YOu see that a film is quite a different matter)

It couldn't be a direct copy of any of the storylines in the comic, it's just not practical. Also, the Marla comic is held in such high esteem because it is the only great work produced by anyone in the group. (unless there's something I don't know about) I would have to consult you (geneva) on any changes to the storyline, and any objections would be respected. Yeah... as for the casting... ANYONE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN A FILM BAED ON THE MARLA COMIC? RESPONSES ARE NON-BINDING, AS THIS IS JUST A TEST FOR FEASABILITY. Hope that'll do it... (Alexi, you won't be included if you don't want to. This is strictly voluntary.)

I've got all the free time in the world, but I suck at acting.
How do you define "Great Work"?

I will not define it, lest I eat my words at some future date.
I'm sure there have been other great projects done by other people, but this is the only one I could think of at the time.

Projects, eh?
Well, I'm working on quite a few right now, actually...
No, I'm not accusing you, nor am I saying that they will be great works. Just mentioning them as a matter of factly.

Traitor!! I will see you burn for this!! muhahahha >: P It couldn't be a direct copy of any of the storylines in the comic, it's just not practical. true -laughs- I think that's definately a debatable matter but of course. ;D I should say that I would be willing to participate. I've got all the free time in the world, but I suck at acting. You don't have to act... You just gotta be yourself... That IS the whole point. I will not define it, lest I eat my words at some future date. how very wise of you.

You don't have to act... You just gotta be yourself... That IS the whole point. "All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances; each man in his time plays many parts." -Shakespeare

-steely glare- if that's how you want to play it:

Your point is...? It's still acting.
This is rather funny. The debate goes along the lines of: Not acting - > acting - > not acting - > in theory, I could put my quote here again and it would fit. I don't think there are any other quotes that are similar in structure to Shakespeare's.
Whoo, I'm lost.

Should I maybe make a more visible thread to attract the attention of more people to see if I might be able to do this project?
