There are two proposed Senate Bills that deal with a possible (but unlikely) draft reinstatement. Suprisingly, the proposal does not allow college as a reason to not go and it also includes everyone, even women, between 18 and 26 years of age. Although it is not likely to pass, what do you people think of such a proposal? Congree.Org CBS news

The hippy in me wants to fight the power and spread the love.
The rest of me wants to curl up in a ball and be isolationist.
So I'm gonna have to say fuck the draft.

I believe many feel the same. Is it even morally right to send unwilling people to risk their lives for someone else?

I can always just stake it out in my sister's bathroom. I'll have everything, a place to do my buisiness, a shower, water, food (guinea pigs), etc. I doubt they'll want me anyway, I'm too lazy.

I'd rather share a cell with Bubba than fight in a mindless politicians' war.

*curses* they can't make me. they shouldn't reinstate a draft because it would make everything be so much more complicated. even though in france (ostrich country) they require a year of military service. we are not france and we have the right to not be in the army. *gets off her soap box*

france doesnt require a year of military service any more... just a small camp where they teach you some basics then advertise and promote the military to you. But its only 1-2 days...

They don't count college?
What are we, cattle?
I mean... seriously. That's treating young people like some kind of disposable item. We're supposed to be the future. -_-;
I'm with Henry. The hippie wants to throw flowers at them; the scared little girl wants to pretend that I'm still 12.
Not to mention that I'm in no way cut out for military service.
But talk about getting your priorities crossed: do we A) Want to educate the next generation for the future OR B ) Kill the next generation.

no the problem I believe they are facing, is that too many people are going to college, so if they were to enact the draft, and not be able to pool from college students... well then the minimum age would be essentially raised to 22... since nobody under that age is really doing anything other than school or college.
