The Political Compass tests you on two axis instead of the one (left vs. right) that is traditionally used. The top down axis represents political position while the left right axis represents economic position. I got a Economic: -2.88 Political: -2.56

Pretty close to Ali, though I'd imagine the reasons are slightly different. The political might actually be a bit off (I think I'm slightly more authoritarian); some of what I think were the associated questions were a bit undefined. Can someone tell me exactly what 'the establishment' is in non-buzz word terms? (rhetorical question for the record) Cool find though, I think it at least gives a good idea of where one stands.

A lot of the questions I wasn't really sure whether to agree or disagree, and some seemed way to broad to answer one way or another, so I dunno how accurate that is really.

I've noticed that it tends to say everyone leans away from authoritarian and free market. This is true even if the person says they are conservative or lean republican. One of my more conservative friends was also in the negatives but by less than 1.

I think partially its because of the way that the american government has been acting, and a lot of people realize that they dont agree with the governments policies, hence turn out more liberal.

Well, I received: Economic: 1.62 Social: 2.26
Maybe if I felt more strongly about things, I'd be as conservative as most tests say I am.

So what you really mean to say, is that most tests rate you more conservative than you really are because you dont feel as strongly about things.

Nope. What I meant to say is exactly what I said. This test differed that most political compass tests do. It might have been my perception of what "Strongly Agree" and "Strongly Disagree" mean, which I interpreted as an extreme reactions with such strong convictions that I would not seriously consider adopting opposing viewpoint as my own.
I am pretty dang conservative, both on social and economic issues. Heck, I took another test (this one was only a one axis scale) and the higher the score you received once you finished, the more liberal you were. Out of a possible fourty, I received a one. I'm no fascist, but I'd consider myself closer to the extreme right than the middle-right.
It might have been the way the questions were phrased that inspired dimished emotions. That, and it seems I'd have to be racist in order to get farther right on the compass.
