I want to see how this forum is divided on beliefs and existence of God or Gods or not. If you can, state your reason behind your choice.

Well, this religious guy I know said there was perhaps a DEvolution, where eveything evolved from HUMANS.
I don't believe it yet, but it would explain a LOT, and if you think about it, it kindof makes sense.
Plus, the theory of evolution IS beginning to be doubted...

It is being doubted? How? Also, you didn't vote in the poll! Be sure to put your opinion down. On a side note, (I guess this would be related to evolution) DNA was discovered on this day 50 years ago. Even www.google.com changed their logo for the day.

Now Jeff. Just because one might believe in God, that doesn't necissarily mean they're a creationisnt. Take me for instance. Instead of believing that God created all the life forms, or all the life forms evolved from a random organic molocule, I believe that God created the little organic molocule from which all life forms evolved. I take the bible metaphorically. A biblical day is a couple million years. Think about it:
1. On the first day, God created the earth, the heavens and light. Likewise, 4.5 billion years ago, the sun formed as a star, and sediment collected around in an orbit creating the planet earth.
2. On the second day, God created the sky. Likewise, as the earth was forming and changing, the opaque air cleared, and a sky was revealed.
3. On the third day, God created separated the land and the seas, and produced vegitation on the land. Behold that such a thing also happened according to evolutionists. After earth formed as a volcanic rock, the rock settled, and seas were separated from land, and vegetation was created.
4. On the fourth day, God created the moon and the sun to govern the night and the day. Is it not a coincedence that at this time, a meteroid just had to crash into the earth to dislodge a piece of the moon. That collision in the earth set the earth spinning in the such way we know it now. (hmm. this step seems a bit out of order, but oh well...)
5. On the fifth day, far into the scheme of things, God created the creatures. Likewise, equally late in the history of the world, the first creatures found themselves crawling upon this earth. Suddenly, they start evolving untill...
6. ...on the sixth day, God created mammals and humans. Could it not be that at this "sixth day" humans were created from evolution of the animals and primates?
The point of this is, both the biblical creationist and the scientific evolutionist beliefs are practically the same, in a certain light. I take the earth's creation in seven days as a direct metaphor for the earth's creation in 4.5 billion years. In that case, are we still in the seventh day?

Oh yeah! You told me about that story. I am not saying that believing in God prevents believing in evolution, but whether people believe in the religious doctrines that are made in the name of God.

AHHH!! how evil jeff, reminding me of CHOIR!!! *sob* I believe in evolution...I take science over god any day! And there have been examples over the ages that one could look back on to support that thesis. ~*~Me

Here is what i believe and why, i'm not preaching to anybody, just stating what i think so that someone may learn from it perhaps and get good ideas:
I believe that evolution is real because that is the most logical thing that I can see, to me, it answers all the questions realistically and logically. I also believe in natural selection, which, unfortunatly does not apply to humans any longer.
However, I know that both of these could be false and there could be a god, thus, if you can prove something to me with a logical argument and good proof, then i'll believe it, but as it is i neither rule out or rule in the existence of anything under the title of "god"

it's funny that you said that i just wrote up a whole little speech somewhere that said why i think it's impossible to provide any "logical arguement and good proof" that god exists...

who knows, we might make some technological leap that makes it possible to prove a god or gods exists, thats what i meant

How can technology detect God or gods?

there could be a way, who knows

Sounds doubtful. God, if he exists, doesn't seem to "live" in this universe in some physical form that can be detected.

It's elementary, make a God-proving machine!
Actually, I think He would make it impossible to detect Him anyways.
