I do.
It is not that we are starting to see the "truth" and releasing the fairy tale of God. It is that we are losing belief in something that seems surreal but exists nevertheless. We are loosing the only force that keeps us sane and ethical and at least somewhat pure.

I can NOT believe how a people as technologically advanced as WE, fail to see HOW only ONE god can be omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent... the ancients (and I too) believed that there was more than one god... and that each controlled a part of life...
but those who believe in the ONE god, are slightly out of it... if he were omniscient and omnipotent, he would have the knowledge, and power to create the world set by the parables written in his name, and not have let this existence become what it is now...
but if there are (and there ARE) more than one god, it would prove that gods are not as ideal as the Christian god, and that they are limited, and that is backed up by the fact that not everything is righted, because gods do not have the power to control what they have created.

I believe that religion can help us cope with many things in life. But, of course, all problems can only be solved if a group or individual puts realistic efforts into solving them down here on Earth.
That is all I have to say.

Religion is a mental security blanket. Oh, and raping small children and killing and maiming millions doesn't count as sane and ethical or pure. PS:roger williams is cool. PPS:was Joan of Arc cannonised? i'm curious...i havn't been able to find anything that says so.

What if God doesn't care what we think of him? Or, more exactly, doesn't want to use his powers to influence us? Having a whole planet of mind puppets gets boring fast.

It is said somewhere in a holy book that God does not control us directly - we have will. We are responsible for our choices, no one else.
