Personally, I have no idea, but Mario was from Japan. Japan made mario!

that was awesome! it reminds me of that mario flash cartoon where they do the sound effects for the game while playing it and speak in italian americain accents.
they played various songs from mario... the one between the main and obvious mario theme song was actually also from mario. It goes: mario theme song ... some other mario song (I forget where... but I recognize it as mario) the mario song from the multiplayer battle mode in mario 3 Mario using the star. Tetris. Mortal Kombat. Mario 1 underground. Zelda Mario death sound.

this is awsome, do you know what choir that is? What were the songs between Mario and Tetris (which is so not form Japan)? Do you mean that tetris the game wasnt from Japan? or that the music wasnt from Japan?

hehe, that was great! I like it alot The music in between tetris and classic mario was from another mario game I think. At least a mario level in Smash Bros. has that music.

The music is definetely not form Japan.
I don't think the game is either, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

in a sense the music is from Japan, because the music was composed for midi format. The original composition isnt japanese though.

Just because a music is in a different format does not make it a different composition, it is in fact still the same.
I think the people just lumped it into their program because it was a popular vidio game song, and didn't bother to break up the show to announce it's origin.

Just because a music is in a different format does not make it a different composition, it is in fact still the same. If you arrange a piece that is originally for piano into an orchestrated piece, it is effectively as much your composition as the original authors. As is seen, for example, by Mussorgskys pictures at an exhibition which is always preluded at concerts by "orchestrated by ravel." Also things like attributing Star Spangled banner to Francis Scott Key, when he didnt write the music and not including the fact that the original tune was written by John Stafford Smith likewise are instances of editing a piece and attributing your own name to it. It has, can and often should be done. In the same way, rewriting a commonly orchestrated piece into a series of beeps ought to be attributed to the rewriter. They didnt perform the original orchestrated version, they performed the toned version and as a result attributed it (rightly) to nintendo rather than the original composer.

By your logic they should have attributed it to themselves because they rewrote it into a vocal piece.

no they simply changed the instruments but they still used the same score. The score was actually changed to fit an originally orchestrated piece into a monotone midi-like arrangement.
