"Um" is used when you're trying to think of something else to say...since you didn't manage to add anything else to that statement, I shall stick to my theory ;D

No. Um. is a common word in my dictionary to say when what someone has just said s not worth commenting on.

that too but its also used too show that u havn't zoned out of the conversation so is "eeee"(spelling doesn't count) in japenese

japanese is interesting... they answer the phone with "moshi-moshi" yet they don't use that as a greeting anywhere else... in fact, Mexicans answer the phone with "Bueno"...innnttteeerrreeesssaaaannnntttteeee....
