The first story (Stones of Fate) was really fun, lets do another one. Like I mentioned before, it should probably be in a futuristic sci-fi setting so that everyone can go crazy with advanced gagets.
That said, we can go in many directions with the plot. Should we parody an existing and overused theme or try to be original? I think writing a story about intergalactic war between the Human Empire and a bad of Rebels would make me sick, but it has so many possible things to make fun of.
So what does everyone think, parody or original?

who's captaining it this time? unless you liked steph's and mine control over allllll of you the story
i think, that if we have a futuristic setting we should have LIMITS
no secret squirrel gear type stuff
you can not get out of any given situation with something concealed in your hat
or multiple things
no time travel, that's just silly
you can not fit the kitchen sink in your pocket
don't even try

Yes. Omnipotence drives me nuts. We also should have some kind of back-story type thing for all our characters. Doesn't have to take the nobel prize in literature or anything but just a little blurb.

That would be neat. I want to know more about the other characters.

anything is ok... but thats the point of these kind of stories... everybody has his own plans for the plot of the story, and tries to drive it in that direction, but invariably somebody does something to change the direction it is going in....
I vote that the people can do whatever they want withing their own limits. Every man should realize the point at which he is becomming stupid.
Also I believe that we should try and involve the story with as little true events as possible, that way the villains or the good people can win, and no one will be too unhappy as a result... The less personal we make it the more fun we can all have being characters we never are...

Oh yes. We should keep the story far far away from real life.

Huh? I think missed something. Can I play? Sure! If you want an idea of what we're talking about, read the b/w tec story thread. It's going to be all different this time.

i personally like anne mccaffrey and would like a story set in the triad cities from her book "The Coelura" but whatever oh yes... should our futurism be past interplanetary colonization, and as such only have really nifty gadgets on earth, and no other known species from space? or should there already be colonies in different galaxies and planets, with or without the aliens, i personally think it'd be really cool to have aliens, but it may make things a tad difficult if there are too many of them "hi, i'm Tara" ;D "click, blup clack meh zing" "....."

Regarding the issue of omnipotence and gatting your character out of any situation, we should not have strict rules on what people can and can't do. Let's just agree that everyone's goal is to make the story interesting and not to have thier character "win".
However... having your character out of the story is no fun. Maybe we could let people whose character dies write for another?
Also, it's more fun to be the main character of the story than to be a useless side character, so people will try to make the story revolve around them. We could agree to take truns on being main characters, or we could try to write it so everyone has roughly the same importance to the plot (no side characters)

or... if everyone tries to make themselves be the main character, you will find that everybody will be the main character. I like the laissez faire policy. The only real interfering I think should be present, is useful information by Steph and Lisa, Privately messaged to the people who need it. (ie, Detective nick (forgot his name) finds a necklace on the ground next to the crime scene, but notices that it has the insignia of a mafia member... That kind of thing (random events to push people in the right direction) should be handled by the admins Steph and Lisa. They also should determine who is the murderer and tell them. Then they also ought to play the part of NPC's the side characters who are important but nobody wants to play. The only rule should be that no one ought to find any non verbal clues about who committed murder without express permission from the admins, (but the admins should definetly throw a couple of red herrings in there) furthermore, we must promise not to reveal our parts in the crime, and not kill of others characters without that persons permission. The last rule I propose is try to have fun and be fair at the same time.
