This is scary to say the least. I wonder why it happened.

Subject lines says it all.
I think why these things happen is that sometimes people are/feel so alienated that they just snap; part of why these always end with suicide.
Anyone feel like rewatching bowling for columbine?

Where? It just says what happened not his motives. In fact it says they haven't offered one.
I agree, it is a symptom of something wrong in society.

It happened while we were in class. I know a couple people who were frantically trying to get hold of Tech people they knew. Which was made difficult by the wind here, which destroyed a teacher's porch, and is having fun with our generators. We're planning on going to the Chapel for the nondenominational service today.

In some ways its a shame that he killed himself, now It will be a lot harder to ever really find out why he did it. Personally I pity the shooter, as well as all the friends and relatives of those who died.

yeah, this is extremely unfortunate. And I agree with Ali about the shooter, it would be good to know why he did what he did.

apparently the biggest douchebag in the world (jack thompson) has already blamed this on video games (on fox news no less), at 3 PM or so (EST?)

I meant nicks subject line sums up my feelings... Oh... Sorry bout that. I wonder if what Bezerkker pointed out has a real connection or if is a coincidental timing. April does seem like a bad month now.

I think the whole blame video games deal will die very quickly. Supposedly, the kid had been writing fucked up stories and playwrites for some time and was on drugs for serious depression. He was too messed up to begin with for it to have been any sort of video game related act. If anything, it's a failure of gun laws for a depressed kid with serious psychiatric issues to be allowed to purchase a gun in the first place, let alone 2.
In case you're confused, there have been several updates to the case. They should be easy enough to find if you haven't read anything already.
