Your argument is basically "I don't like wine because I don't agree with its taste."

Meh, your argument assumes too many things that just aren't objectively true. Besides, I was only (half) kidding when I said that wine was better than beer. I don't drink.

I can't drink drink either of them. I taste flavor and alcohol, and unless they're integrated better than that, it just kind of sucks. So it's either no alcohol or more than a measly 5 per cent by volume. I've had better wines than beers, but then people don't offer me good lager. The only time I get offered wine is by my parents, so maybe they're conspiring to put me off alcohol forever.
Godiva liquer is liquid heaven. 17% alcohol and delightfully shivery all the way down. Pama is good too. Also 17%, reminds me of Ribena.

Come on Alex, you know as well as anyone here that I appreciate a good beer, I love beer, theres no denying that. However, just like you prefer beer over wine, I think that most of the time a good wine hits the spot better than a good beer, thats all there is to it.
In terms of Price ≠ Refinement ≠ Quality, I totally agree, and thats why some of the best wines Ive had have been cheap or moderately priced. Price has no place in an argument about beer and wine, except in noting that cheap wines are still good, while Ive never had a cheap beer before that I enjoyed.
As far as Wine being sour and bitter, I think youve mixed it up here. Wine is sour maybe, but bitter no. Thats reserved for beer. If youve had a bitter wine, you were given vinegar by mistake. And personally I prefer sour to bitter any day, probably the single reason why I prefer wine to beer on most occasions. But, just like beers dont have to be bitter, Wines dont have to be sour, so theres room for everyone. And No, just No. Coffee + Cranberry Juice does not = wine. Sorry.
Brandy is not a waste of alcohol, yes, beers can be higher in % than wine and have a lot of diversity, but if you want to start including all of that stuff, you are a) bringing this discussion outside of the range of most people here, and b) will have to start including Wines equivalents of Dark Ales, and Cherry flavored beers, ie Champagne and dessert wines. Unfortunately Alex, I think Wine wins out here because Ive never had a good beer that was sweet (except for 1 belgian cherry ale, but that was the exception) while Wine has plenty of good sweet drinks that complement a whole range of food and moods.
Meade is not wine. Meade is good, but its not wine.
Wine and Melted Chedder cheese is gross. But Wine and Blue Cheese, or Wine and well.. really any refined cheese that isnt melted (with the exception of blue cheese, melted blue cheese goes fine with wine) goes just as well together as beer goes with melted cheeses. Beer and any kind of real good non melted cheese is pretty disgusting too. And chocolate and Beer is pretty disgusting actually, chocolate goes better with wine. However Dark Ales are awesome so I can see where you would be mislead into thinking that cadburys and dark ales go well together. I imagine it was just the dark ale that was awesome despite having cadburys with it.
Ive never slurred american beers. Ive only slurred cheap bears. Unfortunately 90% of cheap bears are made in america, but that doesnt mean that other american beers are bad. Oh and a champagne beer sounds disgusting.

There we go, NOW we're having a conversation and I can be serious. I think the lack of vocal inflection from my first post left people clueless to my sardonic attitude.
Despite that, I'll elaborate my actual views now that someone who's actually had a fair number of both is joining in.
I agree that cheap wines can be quite good, and admit that the best I've had are moderately priced wines some of which were quite good. Oh as long as we're admitting shit here, I love dessert wine with a passion.
I DO think that Wine is Sour and Bitter, and more of the latter (I'm speaking of red wine that is) but I understand that a lot of feel differently, and/or enjoy it. My rant against wine comes from an entire culture of people who view wine as sophisticated and snobish while beer and whisky fall to the side lines as the stuff of alcoholics and the working classes. To see it repeated here in minature by the ignorant inflamed me into my vitrious tirade. And I have had wines that I'd prefer coffee and cranberry to, but I don't seriously believe my own statements.
I included all that stuff because people were talking about how many things wine can go with, even though they probably only have ever tried a few sips of some classic lagers... I don't think bringing in brandy is unreasonable because we have our party animals here as well as the sophisticated like you. And Brandy isn't a waste, but of the big three of hard liquours it falls well behind whisky and rum for me.
If you don't agree with my analyses of beer with cheeses and chocolates and such, then we must again agree to disagree, BUT we can bring our respective favourites next time we meet, and see if we can't be swayed.
Molsons, Coors, labatt (sort of), Miller Md, Budweiser, Paps, and any light beer are the only American ones I know of that I consider cheap and shitty. Try any micro brew, like samuel adams, and you'll see american beers can be quite delightful.
PS: Lisa, I've never tried Godiva or Pama because they run $35-40 dollars per bottle, but I've tried alot of similar liqueurs. I have some advice, try mixing them If you want I'll teach you how over the summer. Liqueurs use maceration with actual alchohol and lots of food colouring and artificial flavours, as well as adding processed sugar and fake sugar. This gives them a sharp acidy aftertaste and you still get the hard hit of alcohol burning, even at such low percentages. If you mix them with actual creams and fruit juices, along with hard liguours, you get a much pleasenter and enriching experience. It brings tasty fuzzyness to an orgasmic plateau. Theres a reasons chocolate martinies have been repeatedly voted on cosmo as the #1 liquid panty remover... =d

I never knew you read Cosmo Alex. Im even more curious about your real sexuality now.
And Alex, while you have a problem with the snobbish people, and so defend beer to its bitter end (Ha! Bitter!), I defend wine against the people of the opposite pursuasion; people like Terrance (not to name names). These are people who drink to get drunk, and usually dont really appcreciate the alcohol except for the above property. They drink cheap beer usually because its cheaper, more socially prominent, and since its supposed to taste like piss, they know whats coming.
Now, thats all fine, I mean, Im not going to judge some loser just because hes not interested in the taste of what he drinks. But, when he claims that beer tastes better than wine to someone like me, a self-declared gourmand, Ive got to show him what an idiot he is and how if he wants to make a statement like that he should try actually tasting the beer he drinks, and drinking wine thats not a quarter bottle full of backwash and vinegar. But its hard to argue against someone who only eats white bread and pasta, they dont know what taste is.
