I saw it. I liked it. Personally, I know very little about the Transformers, since I watched the cartoon when I was too young to remember stuff about things.
SPOILER However, I hope no sequel is made because it isn't Transformers if Megatron isn't there.

I have yet to hear anything less than phenominal stuff about it, and I hope to see it sometime soon.

And you're going to listen to a summary that considers The Onion a valid source of real information?

"Big loud and full of testrosotme car fantasies."
Best quote I have ever heard.

Transformers was a money grab from the start, as were several cartoons from the 1980s that had toys to go along with 'em. Whenever a toy was discontinued, the character died (Optimus and many others died in the original Transformers movie due to this) and whenever a new line of toys was introduced, a new bunch of characters were brought in. That didn't stop it from being fun to watch.

It was a good movie, with the expected let downs. Notably the grease monkey bid for romance. And the moment they had to have. At least they didn't end up kissing. And all the fsking cool effects of robots wrestling and destroying things are lost in the mess of special effect explosions and the sense that the autobots are moving too fast for your pitiful human senses to comprehend. For good guys set on not harming the populace, leveling a city probably wasn't their best example of 'we mean you no harm'. Obviously we only really care about the city being on fire and in pieces. I can't decide whether the obvious prods at current events made it better or not. Army boy, however cute he was, and his family issues, that caricature of a government agent, the seat of power himself, mou. And there were no foreign cars.
Of course it had its fabulous points. I think my favorite was Bumblebee getting huffy at being called a piece of crap, dumping the kids, pulling a tight wheelie and reappearing as a sexy shiny new Camaro radiating 'SMUG'. I'd totally see it again. Just probably not for the full cost of a ticket and snacks.

Well maybe it's because I'm half blind and was too close to the screen, but to me, most of that movie was shiny silver bits flying around a screen like fireflies on crack. And the occasional paint job.
