Perhaps it isn't, but for all the talk of nobility among the common people, of freedom, and equality, it certainly violates its own codes quite a lot. Comparing it to the rest of the world will do little good, it must be judged on its own by its own merrits. Common practice isno way to justify an action. Perhaps I was a little too harsh at first though, I was in a bad mood then.

ok, as far as freedom goes, this country is probably one of the most free countries in the world. If anything, its a little too free. Second of all, if you are comparing it to its own merits, then you also have to compare it to its own time. You cant say that this isnt a noble country because of what people did 100 years ago (although if anything america has gone downhill in my opinion). As far as nobility and equality, I dont know many people who do consider america a bastion of those two virtues, but when those are mentioned in reference to america's history, I do believe they were well deserved. The founding of the country, in my opinion was a time when America was noble, and the "founding fathers" in my opinion were enlightened individuals who deserve the respect they are given. The other time period that america was noble and unhindered by corruption was during the progressive area, and FDR. The neo conservatives under nixon and the others were also moderately looking after the country. It is those moments, I believe, that people refer to as enlightened, but the rest is full of political corruption, hate, repression, and had no real leaders to pull the country together. So, in my opinion, America does deserve a reputation of have enlightened rulers, but it should be known that, just like any other country, it still has its fair share of evils.

You're welcome to your own opinions, but I still disagree in some cases.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I found a book you might enjoy. Its called American Holocaust by David Stannard. It's basically a commentary on an avalanche of primary and secondary sources about the extermination of the Native Americans. You can barrow or even have it if you want. In particular, it has some surprising quotes from our 'founding fathers.' It also sheds a bit of light on the 'war' as you call it. I put 'war' in quotation marks because even to this day most wars I know of don't include the deliberate slaughter of women and children to prevent the race from reproducing. Of course they wanted to conquer the land, but driving the Native People out would have been quite sufficient, not to mention much more honest than creating a myriad of treaties, all of which were broken.
Edit: always underline yer titles kids

You can also italicize your titles to make them look more Italian.

America is the only country in the world that was "born capitalist".
