Id also be so very happy if half of the school had been aborted. You cant look at it that way bezzerker. First of all, you are assuming that the people who want to abort will otherwise put their child up for adoption. Statistics prove that this is rarely the case. Once a mother has had the child, it seems she cant bear to give it away to someone else anymore. Before it is born, its easier for a mother to bear the pain of seperation. So, even if the child isnt wanted, it rarely gets adopted. Not to mention giving a child up for adoption takes a lot more work (filling out forms etc) than dropping it off on the street. No, the unwanted children wont be any better off if abortion is made illegal. They will find themselves bawling on the street at the age of 1 month, abandoned by their parents, or at the best, bawling in a small dirty apartment, abandoned by their parents.

even if the parent(s) did agree to put the child up for adoption, there are far more children up for adoption at the moment than people willing to adopt, so most children end up in orphanages etc or passed from foster home to foster home until they turn eighteen, at which point theyre just turned out to fend for themselves. very few of the children put up for adoption actually find a stable, loving home. so in having the child and puting it up for adoption, people are only making the problem worse.

Abortion, no matter what course we take, will always be inherently negative. If abortion is illegal, people will find illegal ways of aborting (which would be dangerous to mother and child) or keep the unloved child and possible create criminals.
If abortion is legal, lots of fetuses will, of course, die.
The only lasting solution is find a way to make abortions unecessary by improving the environment and education.

What right does a human being have to kill another, especially if the 'other' does not wish to be killed? If the other doesnt wish to be killed then noone has the right to kill that person. ... Otherwise you will probably send them to a nursing home like most americans do and forget about them, where they will be miserable for the rest of their lives. I'll deal with you later. [Time for bed.]

Only if everyone here got an accidental pregnancy, could we truly understand the issues involved with the decision to have an abortion or bear a child.
Umm...good luck...

while thats true, people seem to want to make decisions for others, whether its with parents, friends, or just people who know little other about the person they're planning for's position outside of what involves what they're planning
whether we're experienced with it or not, it seems to be how we work, and until that is changed, there likely won't be many people who can tear away from it

What most worries me over abortion issues is how do you deal with people who find out their child will have a disability of some sort or another?
I'm sure a lot of people would choose to abort the child.
If so, it's a horrible tragedy; how many disabled people have you met that had no value to society?
