What makes a woman? A man?
Are there any particular traits you associate with either, and if so, why?
What traits do you find most attractive, and are there any traits which are less attractive in a person of a particular sex?
Do you feel that because of your gender you must have a certain type of job? Study a certain subject?
Does your religion (if any) have specific ideas on how men and women should behave, and what they should be like?
Please feel free to discuss these issues, as they are topics I must explore for my woman's studies class.

There are differences in physical characteristics (duh) and in emotional reaction caused by hormones. Some get a bigger dose than others so the boundries are rather fuzzy. Still, there are norms that can be used to define the majority, though there is always a minority of people who don't conform (most men don't have breasts).
PS: Though not always the case, gender can sometimes influence what talents one have due to the workings of the brain. For instance, it has been scientifically proven that women are better at multi-tasking than men. Of course, this cannot define everybody, and there will always be exceptions.

"What makes a woman? A man?" 65% of it is physical and the rest is personality (don't ask where I got the percent...I measure everything in percents). Women tend to be more emotional and "smooth", while men tend to be "rough" and active.
"What traits do you find most attractive, and are there any traits which are less attractive in a person of a particular sex?" I find attractive the openness of emotion in most women. They also tend to be more creative than men. Also, talking to women is more fulfilling than talking to the majority of men.
"Do you feel that because of your gender you must have a certain type of job? Study a certain subject?" Subject, no. But job, hmm...scientifically it is show that men are stronger tham women, so some jobs may be unaccessible to women. And women are often better therapists and such than men. But there shouldn't be discrimination.
"Does your religion (if any) have specific ideas on how men and women should behave, and what they should be like?" My religion teaches that both sexes should be contained and calm, although the man plays the dominant role in the family (by that I mean not "dictator" but rather a guardian - a man should be willing to die to protect his family). It is common for women to wear a shawl in my church.
DISCLAIMER: some of the above might be horribly stereotyped. There are always exceptions.

Perhaps I should be more specific.
Do you think that your gender identity is more influenced by society, or more inborn?

I think it leans more towards society, but there's still that 30% of inborn traits.

Thank you for your valuable input! Perhaps she meant "can 't." Oh dang! Where did 30% come from? [q]Do you think that your gender identity is more influenced by society, or more inborn?[/q] It depends. If gender identity refers to the way people of a specific gender dress, act, etc similarly in a given culture, then I would say that society has a greater influence. If gender identity refers to the way people of a specific gender think, then I would say that instinct has a greater influence.
