I voted no on specific term limits, because I believe that a mod should be in power until they abdicate or are ousted by a popular referendum. In a position such as moderator; skill, experience, and reliability are the chief aims. The position is that of a gardener pulling weeds to keep the garden healthy and beatiful, a moderator serves as a janitor for the forum, keeping it clean. If someone has been proven to do a good job, then do we oust them in favor of an unknown to whom we give great power, but whose responsibility remains untested? I for one believe that a good mod should stay, but there should be provisions to oust bad apples should they arise. Just not regular terms.

I vote no because I see this proposal as unnecessary. No one can really abuse mod powers and the terms are only two months long leading to quick cycling of mods anyway.
And also we have plenty of candidiates most of the time and the members are always free to choose how they please. Since some people like Alexei are chosen always, it must mean that he must be doing a good job. After all, there were several chances to boot him in the past and those times, no one did.

This is a hard topic. I'm not sure I have an answer...I can see both sides of the arguement.

I voted yes, because, the mod eleactions are corrupt, I'm almost sure of it. If certain people can get in consecutivly, even though they have prejiduces and biases against others, and this behaviour goes unchecked, I think a change in the system would be ideal.

I counted, and there is 1 unaccounted for vote in the yes category. Please state your reasons or be removed from the vote.

I think that people should be limited to two terms. Whoever voted no is pro Nazi. I am offended by that. Modify your post.

Voting YES means limiting this forum's liberalism by restricting open elections to ensure specific individuals' rise to power.

I voted yes, for I think getting new people in wouldn't be the worst situation. If it isn't working later, then it could be just as easy to switch back, and hopefully by that time, people know who they like as mods and who they wish to have on a more regular basis.

By voting yes, you are going against me, which shows that you don't love me. I win.
There is still 1 unaccounted for vote.

Once removed, if things go ill, it can be hard to reinstate the original like nothing had happened. I think Alexei is fair, and has done a good job, whereas Terrance strays towards capriciousness and has a history of spamming that would make him suspect for whether he would really use the mod powers properly. But Alexei, remember that even if thrice you're offered the kingly crown, thrice you must refuse. Even in an unlimited term you must not grow too accustomed to power. Anyway, just let Alexei stay until we say "kick the bum out!".
I really like Marc Antony's speech in the Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. It's really good.

I vote that mods should be restricted to 2 month terms because a separation of powers is necessary in order to prevent tyranny. I'm not saying that it's probable that the mods abuse their powers, but such is possible. (someone slap me, i'm actually relating something mr. freeman taught me to the forum!) Also, although it makes sense to have the better mods moderate a lot of the time, I'm afraid that if the same, respected mods serve over and over, people will exclude new mods and we will never experience what they are capable of. By the way Alexei, unless your contract of love with Shannon says that you must agree with each other on everything, you lose. I voted against Jeff... ;D
