This may be a question that I don't know simply because I'm sorta new here...But why no swearing?

I think the official reason is to prevent young members from being exposed to it. It also helps prevent flame wars and keep things more civil. Why? Feel like you need to heave upon us a bout of teen angst?

it's because proboards doesn't like swearing.
and there're a lot of uptight, thin-skinned folk on the board.

I'm fine with some swearing. Only when it is used to attack (with malicious intent, not like playing around) another person with no good reason or provocation that I don't like it.

So Proboards doesn't like it? Then that makes some sense, I suppose.
It was just a random question, because the rule seems a bit odd. Most forums I'm on have the rule of 'flaming is for Private Messages only' and let it go at that. But hey, that's cool. I just wanted to know why.
