I am furious! Looking at this weeks/months selection for Mods, I realize that there are very few good ones. Now I am descreet enough to recognize that I would make a very pathetic mod indeed since I can only reply/look at up to 5 threads a day, considering my handicapped internet connection. I also recognize that many forum members are away on vacation, since I can see no other reason that KK, Archagon or other such members would not be running (I also havnt seen them post on the few threads I visit)... As a result, I believe this is essentially an unfair election, similar to the president enacting certain acts or vetoing laws during the senators holiday, where there is nobody to oppose it. If you want an election, make it to the end of summer instead of the normal length since we otherwise lose potential nominees and at the same time lose the votes. All those in favor of this movement ought to show their support on this thread, but also make one, or all of your votes for the invisible mod!!

#1 I would run, but this is my second consecutive term, therefore I cannot. But you shall see me running in the next election.
#2 You yourself are only on vacation for so long (unless you happend to move there and never come back ) So you can easily run for mod and do fine. Summer brings slow times at the forum.
#3 I'm sure Alexei knows the elections are here, and he'll run if he wanted to run.
#4 What's wrong with the people running? I see many great people running! I'd be happy with the power of the forum left in their hands.

Ali, chill out! This is a forum not a government, elections are supposed to be fun. If you checked the thread you'll see that the elections have been moved to next week.
Oh, and this thread belongs on the Forum Discussions board.

Look at it this way, those people who are away will only have to wait about a month after school starts till the next one. Besides, If we get crummy MODs it's not like the people on this forum are going to run wild and spam all over the place. That only happens when Terrance is around. The only worry I have is Henry and Kylie resurfacing and posting porn all over the place, but they haven't been on in months.

They've been on but they've never done that. Really the only thing I worry about is some annoying script kiddie coming and flooding the boards.
Oh, and the occasional link to an inappropriate flash animation, yeah, this forum is a scary horrible place that requires quite the careful watch by mods and administrators.
Just so all of you know, I'm not saying that the mods aren't needed. The mods do a good job keeping the forum a good place for people to post, but it seems a little silly that these mod elections get so heated.

Yeah, I'm here, but writing a good speech takes a while, and time is much limited due to procrastination and laziness...
Ali, I do wish you wouldn't take elections so seriously. It's not like they'll decide the fate of the cosmos or, in fact, this particular microcosm.

Oh, but it's a personal matter of preference and principle. How can you expect Ali to accept something he believes is unfair??

You are assuming that people are unmalleable.

Dmitry is right. I am unmalleable and will continue to fight for the principles of a fair governing body, no matter how pointless. It is a way to vent my frustration of the American political system, and because I cannot yet vote, and am too cowardly to make public speeches, I must instead content myself with attempting to transform the forum government with the best of my abilities into a fair and just one.
Not to mention that those who are elected mods are psycolligcally forced by their responsability to attend the forum more often, and invariably will make more posts. As a result, I would rather see Alexie come everyday as a result of his responsibilty and in consequence find more random and hilarious links, and inane and insane dialogues. Where as Blues will be forced to come (yes even he has vestiges of responsibilty) out of modship and will clutter up the forum with things that I will probably regret seeing. This is what it truly means to be a good mod, so I in the interest of the forum, attempt to keep the best people mods, in a selfish sacrifice.
Yet I must admit that I struck out too early once again. Having been away from the forum for weeks, I come back to find the pomp and ceremony that accompanies a mod election. It was written up everywhere, the news fader, the campaighn board, and the forum discussion board. Then in going through old topics I realized that there were very few people on the forum. what other conclusion could I have arrived at? I thought that Lisa, Steph, and Nick were the only candidates, allowing for little choice as to who would be mod. but then I come back and realize that I came back on the first day of elections when I assumed it was a week in at least.
Yet I still persist in my claims that too few people run, much I believe because of the two term rule. And I will stand by this claim no matter what arguments come against it,
unless they are really good...

you know... other than the fact that I dont swear... my speeches could possibly be considered dangerous, since nobody probably reads them all to the end, I could include some sort of malicious word targetting the audiance, or mention a link to download free programs off the web... or something like that...

Don't you worry about that Ali, I read most of the speeches that you write about the mod elections.

I read every word of all your speeches: 33 percent and a third for pleasure, 33 percent and a third out of boredom, and 33 and a third percent to find your argumenets and weak spots for retalliation (if need be).
But hey, I'm not a mod, so knock yourself out ;D
