*gasp* your enthusiasm appalls me! Curb that joy and be apathetic! Beware, I threaten to do absolutely nothing if you don't give into me.

Similarly, your unentusiasm leaves me aghast, Arachis. You ended your phrase with ... which leads me to believe that the normally joyful expression is here showing dissapointment and sarcasm.
And another thing. DOWN WITH USELESS TWO-WORD POSTS NO ONE GIVES A PUPPIES AND KITTENS THAT YOU ARE EXITED /UNEXITED ABOUT THE ELECTION.
(the last part was capitalized to illustrate that I actually typed "puppies and kittens", because if it was the censor it would be in lower case).

and you randomly decided to reopen this thread why? And what is with everyone being against "useless posts" now anyways? My post was not in any way useless... It obviously called upon your emotions because you feel that the normally joyful expression is here showing dissapointment and sarcasm. My post obviously performed its purpose. Would you have rather I write up a long discourse about the woes and boredom with which the annual election of moderator fills me? And finish it off with a longing sigh expressing a need for excitement in the forum which would cumulate to a couple pages? Seriously... it is often said that the best written papers are (with some exceptions) concise. The more concisely you can express your point the better expressed it is. A two word post is not something to be subjected to categorization as spam, simply because it is two words. A poem could be written in two words, so why not a simple post? My two words expressed my discontent in a simple and effective manner judging by your analysis and response so why add to what is already useful? Its like adding wireless internet to your fridge simply so you can open the fridge door remotely. I dont need to add those kinds of nic-nacs that serve no purpose just for the sake of bulking it up. Instead why dont you stop being so predjudiced and conservative, and realize that almost everything I post has a point, and if there was no point I wanted to make, I wouldnt post. I have no reason to spam. Furthermore, instead of constantly critiquing and acting as though you have a problem with every post on the forum, you should learn to accept that other people have different views, and different ways of expressing their ideas. You should not try to impose upon other people your own ideas. Of course this does not mean that you should never critique or helpfully suggest corrections to some people, but you should take care when you say it and do it less often than you do. As the expression goes, Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice; take each mans censure but reserve thy judgement. In this forum, their has recently been too much a conflict of ideals and quarrels have ensued, and these need, not necessarily to end, but to be taken at a much less personal level, where the participants do not sling insults at each other as vulgar children might do. Each person has his own view and people should respect that, even the modators. Now, I have, as you called for, made a long discourse that will surely be long to pore over, and mostly will be skipped over because of its length. But this is no two word post, and instead it shows the other extreme. I hope you are satisfied with what your uncalled for rebuke has compelled me to write.

First of all, thanks for the blanketing generalization that I have a problem with every post on the forum.
Because I have complained about less posts than you have.
Secondly, just because I was crafty enough to write a meaningful responce to your post doesn't mean that it originally had meaning.
Finally, even thought your post expresses your feelings very well for two words, there is a deeper problem. If you are uncomfortable or unhappy with something, suggestions for improvement would be nice. It is useless to post "Oh Yippie..." If you had at least followed the statement up with reasons why you dont enjoy mod elections I would not have minded your post.

Except that a piece of writing doesnt have to propose solutions to a problem, it can be written just to make people aware that a problem exists.

It doesn't really matter, that post is a month old (do not needlessly bump threads just to criticise old, dead posts). On the topic though, Arachis' implied sarcasm was pretty much lost over the internet, rather than being concise it was excessively abreviated. On the other hand, it's nothing to get up in arms about. Spam posts are stuff like: 'Yay,' restating previous posts exactly, and other such things with utterly no thought behind them.
This forum has already exceeded its angry discussion quota. If such activities which go beyond friendly discussion into an argument keep coming up, I may begin locking, deleting, or moderating posts in threads. This is not a directed threat, just a statement and suggestion for future policy.

yep, but the thing that really matters is WHO decides what's spam and what's not.

And if it matches this description:
that Pavel so kindly provided in the General section in the Spam thread, it qualifies as spam.

Elaborating on my previous statement...
A quote by Joseph Stalin: "It doesn't matter how people vote. It only matters who will be counting the votes."

I dont think angry discussions are really that bad... as long as they dont insult the other person themselves. Arguments between myself and Lev are often debates over word meaning and subtlties but very rarely turn into mudslinging.... as long as I dont insult Lev or he doesnt insult me, I dont really mind those kinds of quarrels... and they bring life to the forum and satisfaction when I win, so they are healthy instead of detrimental.

The admin posts the results a few days after the elections close.
