My recent experiment proves my point. The forum has become too decentralized. Theres a board for everything we ever talk about that could possibly be categorized. With flaming and spamming at an all time low due to a growing maturity rate, there is nothing for mods to do save move threads. I think if we keep seperate boards to a minimum, there will be more chaos, but more activity as well. I don't get up in the morning and say, "gee, i sure want to go laugh at some links". Instead i go to the general board, theres nothing interesting, i check asylum, theres nothing new, so i leave. end of story. Seperate gaming boards, and art and music boards make sense, as well as campaign and history boards. but things that are linkable and/or humourous beong on the general board.
This is my theory, i challenge contestants. (i'm bored)

Ironically enough I just had to do the modlike thing of moving a post.... But yes, I somewhat agree with you that some boards are too specific. For example, the links board almost always falls under either General or Humor anyway so maybe those should be merged.

whats wrong iwth humour on the f'ing genera board?!? it says "post anything here", so why not let people post on the general board things that they'd prefer to have on the general board. I put the numanuma and decentralization on the general board for genera disscussion, thats where i wanted them, i don't see why things HAVE to be moved.

Then why have seperate boards at all?
Mod: Sorry, I actually am with you on this. But we cant get rid of all the boards... lets temporarily remove links and polls and see what happensss

I'm fine with that suggestion if more people agree.

Well as long as the boards exist, it is sort of necessary to move threads to locations that would fit the description. Otherwise other people might not be able to find them as easily (like if they were trying to find an old thread) But I do agree that some of the boards are too sparse to justify keeping them.

If you need to find an old thread just ask me. I have found a thread I needed for English class based on one keyword.

First of all, i'm by no means advocating removing everything except general, thatd be stupid and confuzzling. Forum complaints, history make a lot of sense. Home made games and console/computer games make sense, and the core: general, music, art are nescesary. my thought is, the idea is that you have the boards to keep the forum nice and organized, and so people can say, i want to read something funny, and there you go, they just have to go to the humour board and they're covered. But what if they just want to indirectly talk to people, but when they go to the general board theres nothing funny or interesting? The philosophy/poetry board is nice, its good to have somewhere designed for intellectual discourse on the iambic pentameter of your latest masterpiece, but theres no reason to not be able to post a poem on the general board just for people to read and talk about. And school help? awesome f**king idea, but i'm not sure it works in reality. Almost all of us go to school toghether, and can easily get help over the phone. Is it really practical to make a post on the forum at 9 pm, and hope you'll be able to get help in time to finish it by the next day? no. And posting things for comments or reactions? i tried that, just for fun... i might've gotten one response in two weeks. and who really says, i feel like surfing the shcool help board and giving people advice. That might've happendd whent he forum was booming and had tons of people, but right now? nobody cares enough to do that. I guess what i'm really trying to say is, get rid of some of the really pointless ones, and let people keep threads where they want them to be. Music and art should be kept where they belong, as well as history, but other than that? i don't think there is a need to move a thread just because it could be labled, filed and categorized.
mod: btw, what nick did with wasabi's thread was f'ing awesome, thats, what move buttons are for.
