I felt that I should add one of mine...just to remind everyone of Egan...
Remember that I made a Graduation Speech...yes, I was choosen to do that...grrgrrgrr!
Anyhoo, here it is:
“How bout a game of four square?”
“Let’s play on the swings!”
In elementary school,
Friends did these ordinary things.
We had a carefree lifestyle,
Didn’t think it would change.
Till near the end of Sixth Grade
Then it got really strange…
People wanted to talk,
What happened to play?
It turned into gossip,
About guys, girls, and the day.
Changes came,
And changes went.
There was no time,
To prepare for it.
We just had to go along,
Make up new rules.
Become new people,
Teenagers, way cool!
We entered Junior High,
Where should I begin?
Finding new and old friends,
Trying to fit in.
Yet as life went on,
It just didn’t work out.
We were all so different,
Taking a different route.
Let’s just say,
Lots of lessons were learned,
About who we could trust,
And where we should turn.
“Friends are the angels,
Who help us use our wings”
Or so we seem to find,
In the happiness it brings.
More pressure is upon us.
More need for that encouraging smile.
A need for friends,
To be there all the while.
Just as relaxation,
Finally appears
We will have to leave again,
Hiding many tears.
Different schools.
Not just one…
A multitude.
A whole new change has begun.
We have to look ahead,
Change our view.
Will we be gaining quickly,
The old friends with the new?
My expectations for highschool,
How can I begin?
How can I say,
How insightful this place has been?
I’ve often heard that,
“There are good ships,
There are wood ships,
And there are ships that sail the sea.
But the best ship is friendship,
And may it always be.
Treasure friendships,
Before they sail away.
Keep them close,
Keep them every day.
Just don’t tie them up forever.
Let them go.
For once you find a friend to hold,
They'll stay there on their own.
I want you to think,
Deep into your past.
About the good times you shared,
Make sure that they last.
“I have a hand,
And you have another;
Put them together,
And we have each other.”
Keep that forever,
Deep in your mind.
So that every friendship,
Withstands the test of time.
I do understand it's long...so I'm sorry!
