Yay! comments please! (note- free verse. No punctuation, no rhyming.)
Metamorphesis
Where did you go butterfly? You left your frozen wings behind The black tree over there Maybe you're still a worm girl Wriggling and blind Maybe you're afraid to tear away the layers Of the chrysalis And meet the impending dawn Of a catalyst Crimson and silver and black And cinnabar and white Spinning by day Glowing by night Since when were you The metamorphic one I don't know who's me no more And who is just a shadow I want to rip away this silken pouch And emerge something different Something glittering Something new Time to shed your skin And let the truth seep through Time to bathe in honeyed light And see the fireflies burning Tiny patches in my mind Can't glance back Or cling in shame To the remains of once-was Or could-have-been Because time's iridescent hand Is reaching And stirring up all we know Cackling at impending entropy It's taking away their shell And working the magic That gives squirming darkness Wings
