America, Doll Maker
Scars laid bare and open to the world, broken I am transformed from myself into a child of Fourteen, self doubting and cringing, clinging To a wall of make up the thing they told me I Was worthless without. I hate it, this mask that Society has formed and family has forced. I am this thing I loathe, look into me and you Will see yourself, American Beauty Pageant of Girls who each day sit and stare at themselves Finding every flaw and with erasers held, wiping Their souls away.

When I was writing it, I was thinking about the fact that I feel naked and exposed without make up. That fact bothers me rather a lot...obviously.
But yeah, random musings as ever.

You have to realize, though...that as a child my extended family put tremendous pressure upon me in that area. That is a common thing in at least the united states, if not the world. I don't think that any male can fully understand what it is like to grow up with that influence in your life. That goes for a lot of things, and both ways. Do you think I am not at times frustrated and humilated by these nagging doubts that have been burned into my system?

Don't laugh at something you don't understand then.

Ok, I am sincerely sorry... especially when I think how I would feel if I ever felt that way...

I love this poem! It is great! It makes people realize what this feels like even if they never felt it.
