Upon the coarse cemented railings
I place my foot. Perhaps would be
The last of physical sensations
They ever would sustain. Then,
Dribbling no sweat, no sweat at all,
I draw a handgun from the pocket
Of famished leather that I wear
To shield me from the cold
That soon shall be of no regret to me.
The freezing metal cylinder against my temple
Feels like the river down below.
And, how unlike the stories told
Where memories of life should flash before me,
I see a thing no less than sidewalks
And slighted decor behind cold
Yet steamy glass which there I hold.
And lightly, finger touches trigger,
And lightly go the last remaining moments of my life.
My head feels emptied by the lead
Which passed right through it but a moment's glance before.
There is no pain, no pain at all,
But only numbness, and a throbbing in my skull.
And slowly, like a ballet dancer,
As she yet once again feigns fall, but suddenly
Catches her graceful figure just in time,
I swing towards the icy depths beneath me,
But unlike she who acts, don't stop my fall.
Decisively, the waters once below
Now greedily accept their lovely gift,
Still left with bits of waning life and blood,
Still pulsing with the beating of my heart.
And so I sail to the endless depths
Of Blue, and Black, and Darkness Blooming.
My breath I left upon the bridge,
I shall not need it anymore, it is a present that I give
To Mother Earth, just as my lifeblood to this depth.
And so, my final moments wave before my eyes
As right above me Blue is turned to Red;
A rope, attempting to attach me to my life,
But standing up to greedy waters true,
Utterly failing and dissapating into strife...
Then, finally, I hit the sandy floor.
My breath is gone, my sight no more,
My mind is crawling to a fading chord...
And then there's nothing anymore.
[NOTE] What do you guys think? I appreciate any/all comments, but I would especially find comments on improvements and such invaluable. This has been checked over a few times, but I still can see a few things wrong with it...oh well, I can fix those later.
