While searching through the piles of scribblings that I seem to always leave in my wake, I found several discarded poems that, although at the time might have seemed silly, now sound quite nice actually. Just remember, 1) they are not complete, and 2) they are at least a year old. I should really get back to poetry...
"There was a time, remember I; A time of joy and sorrow, Where every second yesterday Was like the day tomorrow. That time is gone; I now stand still At sides of chasms deep; And joy is gone -"
I like this one up to the 5th line...especially lines 3 and 4.
"What does it take to be a cloud? What does it take to lie beneath the sun's Undying warmth and splendor in the starlight?
What does it take to be a god? What does it take to fly with birds And sing their ageless song?
What does it take to be a man? What wall dares separate our essence From that of clouds, of birds, of dreams?
When can we fly? When can we reach Those distant, twinkling points of light? What does it take to cry?"
I love the ending for this one...so much, in fact, that I fear that I must've plagiarized it from somewhere. The 3rd stanza is cheezy, though.
"My strife is not mine to share; Find it in your hearts To forgive my withered mind; Like a dying flower I stand only to fall And as the petals slowly shrivel Reminisce on times long gone And memories too far away to touch."
IMHO the beginning is crap, but I like the comparison to the flower (except line 6 needs work).
I don't expect you to like these, but I thought I'd share 'em anyways.

These are a bit newer:
"Resolute glances searching the air What do you look for? Why do you stare? Rows upon rows of submerged yellow eyes Trying to find what their nature denies Worlds scribbled blindly onto the walls Music in halftime riddled with holes Where are they going? Nobody knows; -"
"The beating of a distant heart Patters on the glass As an ancient ticking dictates The passage of time."

I know I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating....
You are an Excellent poet, Alexei. I love reading your poetry. You have a range of expression and a depth that many people can't reach. Keep writing!

I agree Archagon... Great Poetry! Pursue the literary career if you can (or at least write in your spare time). For old rough poems these are very good. Most are better than the final drafts of most modern poets.
