Drip, drip, drop, drain People dancing in the rain In their trenchcoats, in their ponchos, dancing in the rain. Stomping out the fluid beat Squeaking boots on asphalt streets See the magistrales fill up with people, dancing in the streets Their umbrellas open wide, No one dares to stay inside! Do not hide, enjoy the water dripping down on either side!
I wrote this poem on inspiration by a painting of a Paris street that my great aunt has. There are many people in the picture, but because it's raining and the view is made blurry, it looks like they're dancing in the rain.

How interesting! Stephanie recently wrote a similar poem:
"I danced in the after-rain the other day Under an over hang over damp pavement The earth smelled like spring But it really was in a small town That lives peacefully in an illusion And forgets the outside world But I danced with my grey shoes sliding against slippery pavement Making a new sound With a new step And forgot that there were people there That this wasn't a stage or a broken slab of wood Or a commercial where soda unleashes the power of the dance But I didn't care I created a "puddle dance" Leapt and spun Shuffled into flaps and ball changes Mingling with the sounds of cars stopping for jaywalkers And the women pushing strollers and walking dogs And the sky; it was fighting Half of it still wanted to cry But the other wanted to smile at the beauty That continues to loom even in the suburbs Small city-towns can trap you in Or teach you Smallness can make you ignorant or wise I danced and became a part of the sidewalk Part of the illusion and the truth Part of the naivety and the beauty I don't know if anyone stopped to watch me Or noticed that there was a girl Melting into the street In the middle of ordinary But I heard the rhythm And it was good.
