Just messing around with random stuff, trying to learn the program better. I tried to change the background color with the bucket fill tool, but for some reason that also affects parts of the picture. I guess the grey colors are too close to the background color. Can someone tell me how else I can change the background? Or else is there a way to make the bucket more sensitive to which colors it changes? www.geocities.com/evilduck_thequack/Smoky.html

yeah there is.. which version of photoshop are you using? Usually you can change the sensitivity, up in the left menu bar when you have the tool selected.

Adjust the 'tolerance.' Not sure where it is in 8.0, but that will be it. You should also try working in layers, that's photoshop's real advantage. Leave the background as a separate layer.

I will, definitely.
But that won't stop me from using Photoshop simultaneously.

Layers are your friends, be kind to them and they shall reward you! For most of my colouring I have a seperate layer for each colour, and often each section. Yeah, I'm insane...I know...

yeah having a few layers is really useful. It allows you to make editing changes much more easily without affecting the other layers. I dont think that having 381 layers on a small basic picture is really necessary, and sometimes I merge the layers to make things more manageable, but having a few layers is definately really useful.
