I may not be as proficient in graphic design as Stephanie, Geneva, and all our other talented artists here, but hey - I'm getting there Comments?

I love the mix of colors as well as the shadow effect of the words... Gotta love all shadow effects...
So like, what kind of information would we get if we scanned that bar code? A price tag? Genetic information? Your current thought at the moment of scanning?

Haven't a clue...probably the price of some Doritos at a 7-11 far, far away.
As for the colour scheme, I love it too...funny thing is, I came upon it completely by accident! Goes to show that messing around in Photoshop can yield beneficial results...

what did you do? use a transparant filter? probably not... how did you do it?!?! I also like the colors a lot, also where did you find the barcode? google? I was looking for one a while back, and eventually created my own....
The shadow effects are cool, but not as cool as the rest....

I was looking for one a while back, and eventually created my own.... The shadow effects are cool, but not as cool as the rest.... No, actually, here's what I did: 1) Found a barcode on Yahoo! image search, magic-selected all the white space, deleted it (to make it just black on a transparent background), pasted it onto my forehead, and stretched it using free-transform. 2) For the colours, I went to Adjust-Colour Balance and messed with the options. Changing the colours of the shadows and highlights gave this avatar its unique look. For once, I am satisfied with how my work looks...however, I'm not sure it fits me. The original idea of a "barcode human" was, in my mind, a metaphor for the assembly line/conformity qualities visible in teenagers today; this description does not suit my character. I can, of course, think of other concepts that this image might represent, but that would be rather awkward, because then it would be as if the image was not created by me, for I am supposed to already have a definition for it in mind during its creation. Don't worry, though - I won't replace it, and if I change it, it will be pretty close to the version you see here.

OOO! Me likes, me likes! Good technique too. I think there's a barcode font out there somewhere that's useful if you like putting barcodes on things because you can decide which letters and numbers it has (and hence allows for secret messages!)
:: blush:: And thank you for the complement.

Thanks! By the way, I decided to keep it, as its meaning suddenly dawned upon me for no apparent reason, making sense out of this entire project.
It turns out that "Barcode Human" refers to the labelling of people according to first impressions and blunt stereotypes. I guess the barcode signifies predetermination and my icon a person's struggle to break out of his or her apparent social niche.

True, but the barcode is not usually something that the everyday person can understand, so Im not sure that the metaphor fits as well as it previously did, unless it is the branding by a specified caste (eg government, parents etc) rather than people in general, in which case it would make a lot more sense.... the case being the equivilant of the cashiers who dont see the actual item being processed, but see only the name on a screen, along with some small data.

Your icon reminds me of a long ago commercial for some bank I think it was... Anyway, they had some line at a bank, and people had bar codes stapled onto their heads to speed things up.
Looked painful
