I've recently discovered Susumu Hirasawa, a japanese composer, because of his work in the Berserk anime and games. He usually does techno, but his work with Berserk is much different. I posted a link below to a player with the music he did for the series, I think the songs 'forces,' 'sign,' and 'gats' (should be written Guts, which is the name of the main character) are the best. www.berserkstatues.com/player.html

Part of the instrumentation in 'Forces' was reminiscent of bagpipes. Nice music on the whole.

If I ever get my hands on the people responsible for that atrocious song... I watched the entire season without stopping and without the intro movie removed. Bleh. PS: is Berserk where 'Bezzerkker' came from.

PS: is Berserk where 'Bezzerkker' came from. Nope, I got the screen name from a bastardized spelling of the berserker from Warcraft II. I had played the game roughly a week or so before I got my first computer with internet access.

well the berserker in Warcraft II and the anime Beserk both have the same derivative.

Not really. In fact, I would say not at all. In Warcraft II, the berserker is a troll that throws axes while in the series Berserk, its a hulking man with a sword as big as most of his companions. Between the two of them, neither matches the original nekkid scotsman, but Gats does come close because of his sword which somewhat resembles the Scottish claymore.

Gats does come close because of his sword which somewhat resembles the Scottish claymore. A) IT'S GUTS!!! NOT GATS, THE AUTHOR HAS PUBLICLY CORRECTED THIS!!! B) The Dragon Slayer doesn't look much like a claymore to me. Of course, it isn't really in the anime, it ends way too soon. C) The berserker connotation reffers to something later on in the comic: the armor of the berserk, which basically has the same effect as PCP, making the user kill everything in sight and ignore pain completely, but they still die when they loose enough blood.

Between the two of them, neither matches the original nekkid scotsman, but Gats does come close because of his sword which somewhat resembles the Scottish claymore. except that the berserker in Warcraft II was not named because of his likeness to the scottish warrior but from the original meaning of berserk, ie to go crazy (usually with bloodlust) in such a way as to put yourself in danger and not care. In the same way, the anime was so named as nick pointed out. The scottish beserker was also named after this. Coincidentaly none of the three have much to do with each other except for the word they are derived from.
