Hopefully there'll be something in here for everyone, but with ali and nick around i doubt it. anyways, i'll try doing descriptions but i kind of suck at describing music, so don't expect anything special
>>Alternative Rock
Kasabian - LSF
-Nice song, somewhat slow i guess, kasabian songs are really hard to describe for me
Kasabian - Club Foot
-One of my favorite songs, very nice intro, doesn't sound like anything i've heard before, probably worth checking out
Interpol - Evil
-Very bizarre song, if you get a chance to see the music video, watch it, though the puppet thing is rather creepy
Interpol - Slow Hands
-Similar to Evil, though i like this one quite a bit more
Muse - Stockholm Syndrome
-Very nice guitar throughout the song but especially at the beginning, it does get sort of repetitive after a while though
Muse - Hysteria
-Decent song, not as good as many of the others i've mentioned so far but its nifty for a bit, the intro is quite nice
Modest Mouse - Ocean Breathes Salty
-This one is quite bizarre, though for some reason i like it, the lyrics are my favorite part of this one (you wasted life why wouldn't you waste death), Modest Mouse, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and to some extent The Bravery all remind me of eachother, so if you like one of them you might want to check them all out
Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds
-NIN did something different with this new CD, personally I like it more than their old stuff, but that could just be me. if you didn't like their old stuff you may want to see what they're like now
Papa Roach - Scars
-Another band that changed what they sound like, Papa Roach is a lot more. . . . angsty? scars is one of those songs that one might imagine a creative depressed kind could write
Rush - Limelight
-Time for some older stuff that your parents likely listened to, and old Canadian stuff at that, this song sounds a lot like many other songs that came after it (wonder why ). anyways, most of you have probably heard part or all of this before
Rush - Tom Sawyer
-Nice little classic, another one that a lot of us have heard despite its age, overall a good song
Weezer - Any one of their songs
-Uh. . .I guess this'll be an exception, any of weezers songs are good, in fact i haven't heard any that i haven't heard on the radio yet, kind of scary
Social Distortion - Reach for the Sky
-Nice little motivational song if that does anything for you, its a nice escape from all those angsty songs that are about suicide, love (the 'i just got dumped' ones), or killing someone
The Bravery - Honest Mistake
-The band that had a bitch-fight with The Killers, personally The Bravery is the better of the two, though both of their songs can be tough to make sense out of sometimes because the lyrics are so. . . creative?
Tegan and Sara - Walking with a Ghost
-One of those songs that realisticly should suck but is somehow appealing (at least to me. . .), originally i thought this band was made up from newfies (Newfoundlanders, heavy stereotypical canadian accent) but apparently they're not from there, though they're Canadian none-the-less
The Mars Volta - The Widow
-Sort of neo-hippie band, though they don't sound like it to me, this is sort of an angsty song, though i've never really sat down and listened to the lyrics the whole way through, it has that feel to it
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
-Yet another Canadian band (yea i'm going to mention it everytime if i can), very nice song, pretty soft, has its own weird characteristic to it, can't think of a good word to describe it at the moment
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
-Though i don't like the killers, this is still a decent song, the best way i can describe the style of it is silly and weird
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
-Nice quite song with many many (suspected) drug references
The Zutons - Pressure Point
-I'm not sure why but it sounds like something out of a TV show, very quirky and interesting but i wouldn't reccomend it for extended listening, it got old pretty quick
Beck - E-Pro
-I'm pretty sure this one was heavily modified with technology, very interesting song
Audioslave - Be Yourself
-A lot like all the other Audioslave songs, for some reason its not old yet though so its all good
Bloc Party - Banquet
-Awesome song, i would imagine most clubs have played this AT LEAST once by now, if you grab any of these this would be a good one
The White Stripes - Blue Orchid
-Someone commented on Jack White turning into Michael Jackson (pale, high pitched, and catchy), this is another semi bizarre song just because of how high pitched the singer gets, though i like it quite a bit
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
-Song about asking someone to flat out shoot you, very cool, great song
Franz Ferdinand - This Fire
-Another one of my favorite alt rock bits, doesn't get a lot of time on the radio so i'd assume most people don't like it, but i love it
>>Techno/Electronica/Trance/You get the idea
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
-Great song, very nice vocals, of which it has more of than any other techno song i've ever heard, which can be a nice perk
Daft Punk - Aerodynamic
-Nice guitar, though i'm not sure someone actually played it so much as they put the notes into a something and it spat this out, regardless one of my favorite songs
Daft Punk - Digital Love
-Those with loads of testosterone probably won't like this one, its moderately sappy but i still like it
Daft Punk - Around the World
-Incredibly repetitive but still likable to some extent, tough to describe but the lyrics consist only of 'around the world', so, yea
Daft Punk - Da Funk
-I bet almost everyone here has heard the beat to this at least once, worth checking out just so you know what it is
Daft Punk - One More Time
-Last Daft Punk song i promise, this one was destined for clubs and parties, good vocals despite being repetitive (hey, its techno, what the hell were you expecting? a ballad?)
Ridgewalkers featuring El - Find
-Pretty basic techno, enjoyable but not to the point where it would get played that often, i wouldn't reccomend this for anyone just getting their feet wet in the techno world
Fischerspooner - Emerge
-One of my favorites, though sadly one of the few decent Fischerspooner songs in my opinion, definently worth checking out
Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl
-Catchy song that i like quite a bit, its british so if you like the accent and you like techno, worth checking out
Chemical Brothers - Galvanize
-Decent song, not that great but not that bad to listen to from time to time, another one i wouldn't reccomend for people just getting in to techno
The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist
-Incredibly bizarre, yet somehow appealing, worth checking out if you want to listen to something that is really out there
>> Semi-(c)Rap stuff that MIGHT be interesting
Lyrics Born - Callin' Out
-Guy from Oakland made this, which is the only reason i've heard of him, this song is decent, might be worth checking out unless you're like most intelligent people and hate rap
Lady Sovereign - Cha-Ching
-Uh. . . bizarre british midget rap, more amusing than anything
Sage Francis - Slow Down Ghandi
-Random song that is trying to say something and the world, probably the US in particular, interesting to listen to
>>Other things that I'm not sure where to put
Apocalyptica - Path volume 2
-I love this song, orchestra + rock = fun times
Party Ben - Boulevard of Broken Songs
-This is the most popular of his songs, but he basically takes different songs that sound similar and puts them together into one super-nifty song, you can find all the stuff he does for free at www.partyben.com
Malice Mizer - Illuminati
-Japanese rock song, Gackt's old band, very good song, worth listening to in my opinion, though i get the feeling some people will love it, others will hate it
Electric Six - Gay Bar
-Watch the video if you can, hilarious stuff, the song alone is rather funny as well
Cowboy Bebop - Any song
-Pretty much any cowboy bebop song is awesome, highly reccomended
Taco - Putting on the Ritz
-Bizarre song that i find funny, if you like old songs i reccomend this
Well, thats all the ones i'm stupid enough to type up at the moment, i may add a few more later in additional posts but for now i don't feel like traumatizing myself further, feel free to add any that you like, though i shouldn't need to mention that
