Anyone recently come across bands people should check out?
Thou Shalt Not- very interesting and thought provoking, mostly electronic (but intelligent) music. I love their lyrics. Check out- Cardinal Directions, 100 Generations, GLM, Inside of You Inspite of You, Trial by Fire, The White Beyond
The Tiger Lillies- The one album of theirs I've heard was a compilation with Edward Gorey entitled (appropriately): The Gorey End. The music and vocals mixed with Gorey's lyrics is a perfect combination. I don't know how to describe them genre-wise. I guess it's in a genre of its own. I have no idea what their other music sounds like, but this album is quite fun. Check out- The Wheeping Chadelier, The Hipdeep Family Intro, Gin, Trampled Lilly

I know this thread is old, but I found an odd but good band from the nineties that some people might enjoy. It's not exactly a recent discovery, I was just able to hear a snippet of each of hteir songs on a CD, which made me recently discover they had more than one good song.
VAST- The lead singer has a bit of an odd voice, but it sounds good with the band's style. Sampling is used tastefully, and the guitar, drums and bass are decent. There is a general feel to their music that I enjoy and have found to be more or less unique

My friends at school who call 'Old' music is stuff like, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Cher. YOU on the other hand are INTELLIGENT. Other than the species at my school. Old music i say, is from the 50's. 60-70's is Soft Rock (some ), 80's is the decade of musical hell.

'80s was a painful time for music. The synthesizer should not have been raped as it was, but at least good metal came out of that period. If it wasn't for bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Ministry, Van Halen and stuff like that, I think the '90s grunge movement would have been different if there at all. Yay for '90s rock from grunge to ska!

Pooper nickle? I'm confused on how feces and an American coin can refer to a sore throat, unless it's a pun reffering to pumpernickle...*blink blink*
