Meh, I like some metal but it is starting to get pretty... inbred. There hasn't been much new in the metal scene until Nu Metal (System of a Down, KoRn, etc) came about in the 90s. In fact, most metal fans I know are enjoying a resurgence of classic metal (in the form of Dragon Force) which is really just a lot of 80s metal being rehased at a higher tempo. And don't even get me started on death metal. I used to dig the stuff, but there is only so much growling and wall-o-sound you can take before it sounds the same. I'm not trying to bash metal, really. In fact, I own a good deal of metal CDs (not even counting the few I've burned to get only the clean songs) and I was even the lead vocalist in a garage band. I just... have gotten tired of a lot of metal.

A bit of Metallica, a bit of the Scorpions, a bit of Rammstein. When I'm in the right mood, nothing does it for me quite like "Battery"!
Oh, and I guess Castlevania music counts as metal. Most definitely that.
OH! Nightwish, of course!

To my ears, Dragonforce sounds like Iced Earth sped up or a harder Iron Maiden.
I minus well list my metal tastes. Feel free to dispute whether the bands I list are metal or not, but I can defend them to a certain degree. The Agony Scene, Chevelle, Demon Hunter, Deep Purple, Dio, Disciple, Disturbed, Evanessence, Fear Factory, Godsmack, Guns'n'Roses, Metallica, Nightwish, Primus (they're kind of metal. Well, metal if it was made by rock/polka/funk in a blender), Puddle of Mud, Prong, Rage Against the Machine (some stuff, very limitted, actually) Skillet, Slipknot (see note for R.A.T.M.), Staind, Static-X, Tool.

Peacius obviously has a collecting fetish. I refuse to believe that people with such collections truly listen to all the music they own.

Dragon ash is made of win. I recommend Luna Sea and the Gazette. Moi Dix Mois is Mana's (from Malice Mizer) pet. It kind of is metal... My angry music collection is fairly small.

Dang, that's like... 3 songs per day for the past 8 years!
I have a much smaller collection, but that's mostly because I only listen to individual tracks and not separate albums/artists/etc.
Also, mine is lossless. HA! I win.

Well I can't listen to that stuff unless I'm in a bad mood. And that's what 5 CDs' worth of Dir En Grey is for.

and, archagon, its not that i lost the music, it is that i chose to not put them back on my computer. i can easily find them in my collection of 650 dvds that i have i burn everything i get on dvds to back them up Oh, that's not what I meant by lossless. Lossless encoders (unlike lossy encoders - MP3, OGG, etc.) are encoders that don't deteriorate an audio file's sound quality. If you bit-compare a lossless file with its source WAV, you won't find any differences.

I love subwoofers. . . its kinda bad though in a way, if I hear music without one it just sounds craptacular and I notice it immediately
