I'll give you my logic: 1 week is not enough to "grow" into your character, and 2 weeks is too long...so why not 1.5 weeks (10 days)? It's the PERFECT number...

That would create unnessesary complecation, changing character every sunday is easy to remember.

If we use your way: Say the first switch day is a Sunday, the second one would be a Wednesday, then a Saturday, then a Tuesday. What would the tenth day be? Saturday. I solved this pretty fast by using a pattern, but others here do not like math as much as me. (and I made a mistake at first)
Now, I think it would be better to try week at first, then ask people if they think it should be longer.
