Hey y'all, just wanted to get this started while I can still make stickies, but does anyone have suggestions for improving membership? Maybe bringing in friends from university? I know I already have. Maybe facebook? We could start a group, throw up a pitch for how cool this forum was and could be, and send out invites to cool people we know. I dunno, I'm just throwing out ideas here. I also think part of it is people have lots of creative outlets these days, and don't feel a need to repost stuff they've said elsewhere. But I think the tedium of resaying something is made up for by the unique feedback and discussion you can get here. again, just throw stuff out here and say what thy will

I think we should also try to improve attendence among those already here. But that is easier said than done...

Making a facebook group seems like an interesting idea. Very braindead at the moment, brain not processing much. I think as long as we don't beat people over the head with asking them to join it's all good. It'd be nice for the community to grow in a healthy kind of way.

We all come here alot, people need to post fresh material more, instead of just replying to stuff others post. Wait this is Alex again...

The problem I've found is that this forum basically has no point. Right now it's for chatting and nothing else, there is no central subject or reason for its existence. Basically, it's a big chat room. If we want to attract new members, there needs to be a real point to the board, some central thing to discuss. I know it was originally created as a video game board, but few people actually bother reading anything posted there.
My suggestion: give it a point (as if you couldn't figure that out.) I'd say it would be fun to post pictures, artwork, and writing but not many people seem to be doing this. Make it a board for constuctive criticism on such things or just for discussion about something with substance (hopefully without too much political garbage, 'cause I'm personally tired of hearing it.)
If people start posting the stuff I mentioned above, I promise to as well (and I certainly have been doing a bit of drawing).

Only ~1/2 of the people here have any interest in video games.

well, that's why we're expanding. hoefully there'd be more.
but yeah, maybe we should decide on a theme

I theme is a good idea, but the thing is that all of us have broad interests. I have little interest in video games now and I know that many of my interests don't overlap with all of yours. The constructive criticism board for writing, art, and all that jazz sounds like a pretty good idea. Definately worth considering.

I actually like how the forum has many focuses. Right now you can still post and critique art and writing, but there are also many other things you could do.
Are you suggesting that we make art/creative writing the central point but keep everything else?
