The fanboys are saving up for PS3s because of the rumored FFVII remake. The game itself will still not be better anyway, exact same gameplay with with a new character.
In any case, Squaresoft has been a marketing whore lately, pretty much every single piece of FFVII crap that's come out since the game has been a failure. Advent children was pretty but WHERE"S THE PLOT! Dirge of Cerberus failed badly as well. I still can't understand why people are so attatched to a character who was purposefully made to be transparent so the gamer could play how they wanted to.
edit: in any case, since when is Nintendo a sellout to fan service?

Mario is there mascot, it's an obligation to put him in as many genres as possible. one word.... Fangirls Then ruin the world, becuase of them there is such an influx of FFVII merchandise becuase they keep eating it up mainly because "CLoudh ish smexy!!!1" Or "Vincent is soooooooo hot" So sad yet true. There's a colony of the vermin in my school's anime club. Sadly, I don't know of any exterminators. That reminds me, why not put Seinfeld (sp?) in the game. There are tons of Seinfeld fans who I'm sure would be a Wii just to play as him in SSBB.

Why on earth would Nintendo put a completely non-Nintendo character in a game that consists solely of classic Nintendo characters? I'm all for more characters, but it's just stupid to ruin the feel of the game with a pathetic and misplaced attempt at fanservice.

Yes actually. While Metal Gear Solid debuted on the Playstation, the SNES was host to the original Metal Gear series. Not only that, but there have been several Nintendo handheld games and several GC ports of the PS2 games, not to mention a remake of the original MGS. YA RLY!

well, they can't add many more likable charas if they're to stick wiht classic nintendo charas. I mean....who's left? Toad? Not that I would mind if Toad is int here, I think he's way cool. but I know not everyone is like me so yeah. I think they're going to have to branch out a bit
but not Cloud. that's just retarded.

how is it retarded?
the motivations would be probably exactly the same as adding any other character
i mean why add snake? hes pretty much the only realistic character at the moment, actually the only even remotely realistic character
cloud was just a suggestion but i don't see how you can say "ZOMG OH NOES IMPOSSIBLE NO CLOUD IN SSB EVAR!!!1111"

I think the only reason is because it breaks the pattern of Nintendo characters. I feel that snake breaks it slightly too as he is realistic and not cartooney like the others. I think that if cloud is to be added, they should add other not Nintendo characters too. Otherwise, he seems very out of place.

ok lets try this one more time classic NINTENDO character? I meant characters who have appeared on the Nintendo console. I know he's owned by Konami, but he's starred in many games that have appeared n Nintendo consoles. Cloud is EXCLUSIVELY a playstation character, he has never and will never appear on a Nintendo console. how is it retarded? the motivations would be probably exactly the same as adding any other character i mean why add snake? hes pretty much the only realistic character at the moment, actually the only even remotely realistic character I think Snake does stand out like a sore thumb, but at the same time we have Captain Falcon and Samus, both of whom seem to have their realism toned down to fit in with the rest of the characters. The fighters are already a mishmash of stules anyway. cloud was just a suggestion but i don't see how you can say "ZOMG OH NOES IMPOSSIBLE NO CLOUD IN SSB EVAR!!!1111" We're saying that it was a bad suggestion because it is an unrealistic and flawed suggestion. This is how we have a conversation, we express our opinions or state facts. Right now, the fact is that Cloud has no place in a SSB game other than perhaps as a sad attempt at capitalistic fan service. Edit: misused an expression.

realism toned down? samus seems just as unrealistic as she is in the metroid games, though i don't know about captain falcon cause i don't play those games

Playe the original Metroid, it's considerably more realstic. Actually, the Prime games are as well. It's only Fusion that looks that cartoony. Then there's the new Zero suit Samus, who is definately remade to look like more of a cartoon.
This means nothing for Cloud. So what if they take stuff from other 3rd parties, just because they might take stuff from Square Enix doesn't mean it's gonna be Cloud.
I know about this and they're only suggestions. I still haven't seen any reason why Nintendo would want a character completely unrelated to the company in their game. Maybe if it was a character from Resident Evil, or some other SquareEnix game on the GC then sure, but there's still no reason for them to give in to whiny fans.
I'm still waiting to see the connection between Nintendo and FFVII. If it's not there then there's pretty much no chance it's gonna happen.
